Mac Twining trained in classical ballet with Nadege Hottier at the Premiere Division Ballet School, and grew up absorbing knowledge of release technique and postmodern dance through his mother, Darla Stanley. After completing his formal dance training, Twining spent four years as a member of the Stephen Petronio Dance Company where he originated roles in new works, performed the company's repertory, and danced in Merce Cunningham pieces through the Petronio Company's bloodlines initiative. Through the Cunningham Trust's workshop program, he has performed in restagings of pieces such as Walkaround Time, Beach Birds, Sounddance and August Pace. Additionally, Twining has performed with Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company, Michael Mao Dance Company, Tania Pérez-Salas Compañía de Danza, and the late, great, Aileen Passloff. He currently works with Christopher Williams Dance, Kimberly Bartosik/Daela, Cornfield Dance, and Tere O'Connor Dance.
